Planning My First Betta Spawn

im planning to spawn my HM Female Betta

with my Red Male VT

they have been in a divided tank for almost 3 weeks now
the female has become very eggy and the male has now formed a bubble nest under a piece of bubble wrap,
ive been feeding them on normal betta food and Freeze dried bloodworms,
so when should i think of introducing them?

We normally put the male in the spawning tank first for a couple of days and then add the female to the chimney. Make sure your spawning tank is bare bottomed with a few plants for the female to hide away in. Also put some things in for the male to build his nest under. That can either be half a polycup, flat piece of poly, bubblewrap, amazon frogbit or piece of IAL.

Im going to prepare it tommorow,

im going to put the female in a 12 litre tank,

then syphon all of the water out of the 35litre tank i had the bettas in,
into a bucket also i will put the male in it. while the male is out of the tank
i will take all the existing ornaments and gravel out of the tank
then put the all of the water back into the tank with the male,
then put a piece of bubble wrap into the tank,

after a day of acclimatizing the male i will put the female in a clear glass vase in the tank,

how long should i leave the female in the vase for?

Two to three days, during which time the male should build a nest and display to her... might want to check that with Netty.

Yep.....Laura is right 2 -3 days in the chmney for the female.

btw.....are you using your existing Betta tank for spawning in. If so do you have spare tanks to put the male and female in after spawning. You'll also need a growout tank for when the babies get bigger.

Ideally you should have a 10gal spawning tank and then one or two 20gal growouts.

i have a 10 gallon tank for the breeding,
and another to put the bettas in after breeding,
ive got a large container which is about 4ft wide to grow out the fish,
