Hi
I am sure you guys have been asked this many times, but here goes
I have bought a 190l tank which I know is too small for large cichlids, i.e oscars etc so I am looking at making a dwarf cichlids tank, my problem is everytime I read a new article I just get more confused about which species will go together, I did think about mbuna but have since heard getting a tank that don't fight is hard.  Can anyone point to an article of a link that will help me understand the best way to stock my tank and which species will go together ok.  For example with dwarf chichlids be ok with dwarf gourami.
Thanks for your help on this.

Have a look at american dwarf cichlids there are many to choose from and some very placid indeed. I have kept laetacara curviceps and dorsigera with gourami (opaline), they are pretty hardy too.

Are American dwarf's easier than the african counterparts then.

I honestly cannot say as I have not really ventured into africans, I do have a group of tangs which are peaceful. I have paracryprichromis nigrippins with leleupi and a juli, but again you need to carefully research what can go with what, Shell Dwellers are also pretty peaceful.

Your best option is to take note of your water stats, if you have soft water you are better off with americans, hard water then look at africans :)

Hope this helps
