I've a new fish waiting to go into his tank and need to know it's safe to do so.

Left and on heater you can see what look like white spots. There is a film of some kind and they are waving.

Isn't that just lime scale? I got it exactly like that on the glass (under water) while cycling a tank recently.

Kitty I've been wondering what on earth it could be as it is horrible!!

But it's been removed now........it had better stay away too.

Anyway, planaria would have been wriggling about all over the place :)

It was the nearest thing I could find on google.

I'm convinced the woods had something to do with it. It's been bleached.

Bleached wood?!? Oh dear, did you soak it in strongly dosed dechlorinated water after bleaching?

Don't panic it's now sat in basin with cold water running over it. Then it'll sit in a mix of tap safe before I even consider putting it back into the aquarium.

But seriously dude, bleaching wood only makes it more likely to rot because the bleach would break it down
