We just noted a small pimple like growth protruding from one of our dwarf Gourami's. We have 3 of them in a 5 gallon tank and he is the only one showing the bump. We have had the tank set up for several moths now and the water conditions seem to be OK from our tests.

Any ideas?

He is eating fine and moving around normally.

Dwarf gouramis tend to be more prone to sickness than most other gourami species. That pimple might be an ulcer maybe. If you can get a picture up it would help to identify it.

This sounds very much like an ulcer, and can be contagious and is almost always deadly. Please isolate the gourami as soon as possible and start treating with acriflavine, and/or other medicine against bacteria and viruses (the ulcer can be caused by either bacteria and viruses).

The main cause for this sickness is stress, and having 3 (territorial!) gouramis in a 5 gallon is causing great stress. If you don't separate the other 2 gouramis you may find one of them with the same sickness or even dead within months. Probably the one that got the ulcer is the one that is lowest in the hierarchy?
