Pike Cichild

heya folks.
This is my first trip into cichlid world (or this forum), and I have a few questions about the pike cichlid.

Actually, I need to know everything about them and how to keep them in the aquarium.

Tank size, temp, Ph, nutrition, tank mates etc etc.

well knowing what speices of pike you are looking at getting will be the biggest starting point as to what kind of care you are going to have to provide for it.

At the moment I know its a dwarf species I'm thinking about getting.
I PM'd the fellow I'm buying it from (Thunder Bay Aquascapes) on another forum lastnight asking for the species name and water requirments, ph temp etc.

Really the only question I have left is what Ph value I should be concerned about?
I've seen 6.0 and 7.0 mentioned many times in several articles I've read, but I thought, at least, most cichlids require a higher Ph of around 8.0 to do well.

It's a Crenicichla notophthalmus.
He has his in a Ph of 7.6 and is doing very well.
Soon I will have my set up ready for him.

Anyways, I ended up getting a pair, one female and a male.
Hopefully I can get them to breed in the near future.
They are quite a fascinating specimen!!
