i used to have one of those carniverous plants, but my grandad really liked it so my mum gave it to him!! oh, the unfairness of it!!
i also had a venus fly trap, but i tried to feed it a bit of cheese (there were no flies in the house!! ) and it died.
and at the moment i'm growing a 'sensitive fern'. when you touch the leafy ferny bits, they curl and fold up dead small. i would take a photo of it, but all the leafy ferny bits have fallen off in a 'drought' (i forgot to water it )
Carnivorous plants do not have to eat any bugs to live. They use photosynthesis like any other plant.
1 problem with most CP's is that you have to use RO, distilled, or rainwater on them. Tap water will kill the plant.
Some CP's, like the VFT need to have a dormant period.
Here is a page with pictures of alot of different CP's that I have.
elgecko, that plant is amazing, I love it! If I ever see one for sale...it's mine!
I saw some cobrashead or cobraheads (?) a couple of months ago, I loved them but they were 20.00 and supposed to go dorment the next month , still wish I had got it though
