I had 6 adult platies at the begining, 3 of the yellow kind and 3 of the orange kinds. (1 male each).

Since then, only two of the original 6 are in this tank and it is their offsprings which actively breed. The others died at around age of 3. For some reason, shop-purchased platies die more easily and don't seem to last as long as the tank bred ones...

I thought about cories, but I decided against it since the tank is already overstocked(!), so I don't want to add any other species...

As for sailfin, I am thinking about it... I am currently looking around my area to see what rarer livebearer species they carry at the stores...

Well the advantage to a tank of livebearers is you can trade to get the supplies for other fishies or the fishies themselves :p ;)

That is the problem - at least for me, it is getting more and more difficult to trade them for store credits and even if I manage, they are really cheap. I guess they are simply too easy for aquarists to breed... ;)

So far, Albino Bristlenose fries are paying off the best - it appears that they will pay for my hobby maintenance cost for long time to come... ;)

Still, I'm gonna look for rare live bearers, since they are much easier to breed and look after when they are young...

Your tank is amazing! How do you get the plants to grow so rapidly and nicely?
