I was away from home for two weeks so I left my parents to take care of my fish tank. When I returned, my two mystery snails were dead. Obviously this worried me and I thought my ammonia or nitrite levels could have been too high, so I tested, but everything is fine with those. However, my PH is a little high. I tested with my normal PH kit and it was off the charts, so I had to use my high range PH testing - My tank has a PH of about 7.8 - 8.
I have a 70 gallon tank with guppies, two gouramies, black skirt tetras, corydoras catfish, and kuhli loach, and all real plants. For a tropical community tank like this, is a PH of around 7.8 or 8 too high? And if so, what should I do to correct it?
Thank you.
