you cant really go wrong with a 5$ ph reader of ebay or amazon wherever you are it,s cheap they maybe fairly dodgy but if you make sure you do a 3 point calibration for alkaline waters and a 2 point for acidic you can can get an accurate decimal place reading which is what you want.
There was a thread yesterday how about annoying it is that you can get a ph and temperature monitor for the same price considering that all ph testers that are digital account for temperature. the only one I could find that could possible do the trick , is a testo 206 PH1 but it is still only ip68 rated so that's 1.5 meters for 1 hr I guess at the top of your tank for a month , it,s dishwasher safe soo who knows... but a lot of people don't like digital ph testers because they don't stabilise the reading well this testo could solve that for the extra 150$ you have to pay it,s probably not worth it !!!! . there would be an excellent market for it …. at 5 $
it,s worth noting that chemical tests use different methods to calculate ph some people would say chemical is better but I will just say that if you want a decimal place on your chemical test you only need a spectrometer. they could set you back a few hundred though...
