Hi guys I'm worried my PH keeps Rapidly dropping this is an old pic just to give an better idea of my set up

OK so it's about 20L and has 1 Betta not the one in the pix , 1 BN catty and 1 molly Pix of them here http://www.fishforums.net/index.php?/topic/390726-plz-welcome/page__p__3282921#entry3282921

Anyway I got my new Betta a few days ago and I added him by laying the bag sit in the tank to get use to the temp for 1hr then i put water from my tank into the bag for 1\2 hr then i slowly released him

then the other day I thought i noticed the start of fin root so was going to start treatment today with Pimafix as it's the only thing available to me as i have it on hand from my last Betta :-(

so last night i did my normal 25% water changes adding Prime to the water and also Neutral Regulator as per instructions I tested the PH b4 I want to bed it was 7.0 and I just tested it now cause I was going to start treatment and I want to make sure the water was fine first and it's not it 6.0 so I added more Neutral Regulator I'm going to get my water a full test up But other then that i don't know what to do

the tank temp is keep at 26 degrees Celsius

got the results of the test Ph 6.0 Ammonia oppm N Oppm KH 0 so bought Aquasonic Carbonate Hardness and slowley going to add it to the tank also bought a KH test kit hopefully it will fix my problem

But now I have another problem was Trying to put in algae wafers for my catty and my Betta ate it is this a bad thing ?

Don't use chemicals to adjust Ph. It will kill your fish!!!

Test your tap water PH after it has stayed in a container with open lid or glass for 24 hours.
Test the ammonia, nitrIte and nitrAte of the tank. What are they?

The Ph could be dropping for many reasons.
Your tap water may be too soft with low Kh not enough to keep the Ph stable. Do you have a Kh test?
Also, what are the normal nitrAte readings before a water change?
How often do you do a water change and how much water at a time?

these lvs where all fine

. Do you have a Kh test?
yes it was 0 but i have been adding Carbonate Hardness

what are the normal nitrAte readings before a water change? I
dont know but ill do this b4 im due for my next water change at the end of this week
How often do you do a water change and how much water at a time?
every sat and 25% each time so that's once a week and I do it per description i gave b4 each time

am I doing anything right ? I really don't want to lose another Betta

The crushed coral will increase your Kh as well as your Ph. You have to monitor till it is constant value.
Not all medications affect your filter bacteria, so no need to remove it. You only need to remove carbon if there is one in the filter as it will filter out the medication.
I haven't used Primafix, but it should not affect the filter as far as I know.
Also, especially for fin rot, if your remove the filter and it causes ammonia and nitrIte issue, then you are not helping the fish as they can't recover in conditions like that.

Additionally, there are a lot of articles saying that Primafix in low Ph can damage some of the internal organs in labyrinth fish like betta fish and I would not risk it myself if I were you.

As for the fin rot, is it just damaged fins or is there something growing? Would it be possible to post a closer picture?

the ph is now 7.0 and has stayed that way for 24 hrs as for the fin rot he's just got gray tips nothing and that has not changed for 24hrs ether crushed coral can i just buy it from a fish shop and how offended do i have to change it ?

In order for your fish to be ok, the Ph really needs to stay constant and that means every time you test you need to get exactly the same value. It is very important to be stable, so 24 hours is not an indicator of a constant pH
With chemicals the Ph can never be constant and it is hard to do so by the most experienced fish keepers.
Crushed coral will provide more constant solution. It doesn't need to be changed at all. You only have to decide how much to put as the more you put the higher the Ph can be.
I would advise to add a little bit first so your fish don't suffer a sudden increase in Ph and then you can increase the ammount slowly if you need a higher Ph.
