Just got myself some new fish which will be arriving in a few days and the seller has told me i need a fairl acidic water for them. The tank is cycled but my water here is very soft with a very low PH of 6 right from the tap. What can i do or use to get a Higher accidity level.

Cheers for any help in advance, its my first time with these fish and i want to get it right.

You dont want higher acidity you want higher alkalinity :p and mopani/crushed coral/backing soda is ment to alter Ph but double check before adding any :)

Hi Devon Charm,

You are getting a little confused. On the PH scale, 7.0 is neutral. Anything below 7.0 is acidic and the lower the number, the more acidic the water. Anything over 7.0 is alkaline and the higher the number, the more alkaline the water is.

Betta Channoides like acidic water, so your tapwater with PH 6.0 will suit the Betta just fine. Don't try to mess with how hard your water is because this will inevitably raise your PH.

Your water will be fine just how it is. :good:

PH SCALE

1.0 (acid)---------------------------------------------7.0 (neutral)-----------------------------------------14.0 (alkaline)

Hope this helps.

That makes it all alot clearer. Thanks for that backtotropical i can now rest at ease lol. There is so much conflicting information out there, you end up more confused than you did to start with
