ph levels tooooo high

can anyone advise me how to bring my high range ph down, without using any chemicals. i did a good water change last night but took readings today everything else was fine but high range ph is 8.8

Do you have any shells, crushed coral or rocks in the tank that might be raising the hardness and pH?

no we have nothing like that.we added new plants and a piece of mopani wood without steeping first but we took it out when we did water change lastnight

You could try peat moss. Add some to your filter if im not mistaken.

Your lfs might sell RO water in quantites. Many people buy this instead of an RO unit, and add some of this water to the tank during a water change or use it as evaporation top up. RO water is very acidic in some cases.

Do you know why your ph is so high? Is it 8.8 from the tap?
