Ph In A Cichlid Tank

how much would a sudden change from 7.0ph to 8.0ph effect my cichlids? (lake tang)

would could i use as buffers to raise my ph?

I would use buffers (sodium bicarb) to raise it slowly over a few days to a week.

Yea like colin said, raise it slowly with Bicarbonate of Soda (Baking Soda) over a few days. Dont use 'API pH Up' though !! or any simular... they're too unstable. Not to mention pricey compared to Bi Carb.
