Ph Has Risen

I added wood (redmoor) to the tank today. It had sunk nicely in the bath but my tank is a bit higher and it's floating but I left it in. My ph is usually 8.2 and it was this when I tested yesterday, but when I tested today (about three hours after adding the wood)it has risen to 8.4. Would this be the wood and if so should I remove it or leave all as is. Thanks guys!

Wood usualy lowers Ph. Did you give it a good wash first? It may be somthing on the wood rather than the wood itself.

I didn't wash it Aqua Tom, I soaked it in dechlorinated water for almost two weeks. My ph always reads 8.2 when testing so this is strange. I'm testing daily as I've just moved fish to new tank and I'm using the media from the old one.
