My ph is 8.0-8.5 in one of my tanks which has a pair of angels in now!
i dont know how this has happened??
ph of water is 7.2
and i have a piece of bog wood in this tank so how can this be happening????
please help i dunno what to do to bring it down? :crazy:

Can we take a look at your other water stats in ammonia, nitrite, nitrate.
What your tap ph readings.
take a look here. to see
Ways to raise the pH
· Aerate the water, driving off the carbon dioxide (CO2)
· Filter over coral or limestone
· Add rocks containing limestone to the tank or use a coral sand substrate
· Use a commercial alkaline buffer

ammonia=0
nitrite=o
nitrate=12.5

i need to lower the ph not raise it as its at 8-8.5 and i have angelfish in there which it should be soft.
there is bog wood in the tank so i dont know why it has risen or how to get it back down?? :unsure:

Your stats are fine.
Never left the info to raise ph wanted you to take a look to see if one of those factors was causing it.
Do you use co2

oh sorry!

dont use co2 or any liquid buffers etc.
its a fluval 2 filter so know coral etc
substrate is just normal gravel
only things in tank is 1 piece of bogwood and 2 aquarium ornaments and plants.

Strange as bogwood lowers ph.
I would post this thead in tropical chat more science buffs go over there.
Good luck.
