Ph Crash

hi all

i have a 2 year old tank and the ph 7.5 ammonia 0 nitrite 0 and nitrate 5.0 sunday morning all fish was at the top of the tank the ph was 7.5 down to 6.4???/

have you added anything, I had the same thing on sat morning and I'm blaming the bogwood I added

Well, the good stats and low nitrate seem to make it unlikely you've got an "old tank syndrome" problem. Have you happened to check pH on tap water prior to changes? Possibly your source unexpectedly changed its pH.

Not sure, maybe others can think of things...

no water change for a week no bogwood and tap water is ph 7.5???

very strange, as I say the exact same thing happened to me this weekend went for 6.4 to well below 6

Do you know if you have hard or soft water? Or what your water hardness is exactly?

yes your KH would be helpful, if its low you will get fluctuations, if its high, its safe

TetraTest sells a good KH-only test kit and API sells a combined GH/KH kit.
