Well this happened to me a couple of days ago recently i have been searching for a pair of female bns to breed with my lone male bn with very little success with all my lfs struggling to get hold of them so went down my local "pets at home" to get some food for my two dogs and went for a nosey round the fish section recently they have started getting a few less common fish in such as knife fish and some chiclids.
Well this time after peering into most of the tanks i noticed the tail of a bn in one of the display tanks and once i looked i realised thay had FOUR female bns all together :hyper: i went and got the nearest member of staff and straight away asked how much and can i have them.
This is where it got interesting this particular member of staff had A) no idea what a BN was and B) no idea how much they were once i pointed them out lol  so of they went to get someone who knew what they were doin after five minutes a supervisor came round and straight away said "We dont stock BN's  " i then pointed out the said bns in which he said "they arent bn's they dont have bristles on there noses they are our new Golden nugget plecs they are £40 each if you want one".
Now after a good 10 minutes of me standing there pointing out the differences between a golden nugget and a bn he still wouldnt accept that i knew about my fish and his staff including himself didnt know squat about fish  so off i went no females and a rather embarressed girlfriend in tow after standing there with me telling someone how to do there job lol
Now there is a good story today i collected two sub adult female bns from a lfs that knew what they were doin so i am now happy lol

Cheers for reading :good:

lol some of there staff havent a clue saying that you get the odd good member of staff my local p@h have juvi albino bn's @ £7.95 each. the quality of fish is mush to be desired tho

While we are at it - Would someone be so kind as to tell me how I know whether my Bristlenose is a male or female?
