I was Christmas shopping yesterday, and decided to scare myself by looking in the pets at home store. I must admit that I was pleasently surprised. The tanks were clean, the fish looked healthy, but the most surprising thing was that they stock Tropica plants!

They do a general bundle of 3 plants for £9, or £3.95 each. Some of the plants looked a little ropey, but some were in very good condition. There was loads of Lilaeopsis brasiliensis, and an Amazon sword that was massive, well worth the price. They were expecting a delivery mid-week.

The other non-tropica plants also looked very healthy, but were not labelled. Shame, as I'm looking for some egeria.

Depending on which one you go to, they can be ok.
The one in Macclesfield is ok. 2 guys in there seem to know their stuff.
I have about 6 plants from there, all growing and healthy.

we've started to see tropica plants popping up in a few shops around here too

haven't been terribly good quality though, sure they were when they came to the shop, probably just not been treated so well afterwards :/

Yeh, in my experience most shops don't look after their plants, to little light mostly, so they just get worse and worse. I did laugh however, when I saw a couple of white, yes white, marimo balls in one shop the other day, how the hell did they manage to kill those!
