Pets At Home Shame On You

Been to local pets at home rhis evening. Went for a look round. There were dead fish in tanks,most of the tanks were thick green with algae. and a tank of fish had white spot. They served a customer that had dead fish in the tank. And when i metioned if they new the fish had white spot the lad said whats that. Well i asked for store manager and kicked off.He said the fish are checked every hour and any dead fish are removed. So i pointed to the tanks and said well whats this then. He didnt know what to say. I will be carrying on supporting my local fish shop. And i will be writing a strong complaints letter to the head office.
On the way out i was speaking to a member of staff she said they are given a one day course on fish keeping What an insult. And they say they care for pets.

i wrote an email to my local pets at home after was sold some fish with white spot and internal bacteria..... never even got a responce. that was in my very early days of fish keeping and nearly made me give up

pets at home are only good for one thing, emergency food and decor!

Pets at Home realy do suck, they are the same in my town. Know nothing at all and can't give you any help / advice. Only thing they can do is take your money and laugh!

pah and most other pet store/fish shops are not concerned with the welfare of fish the sooner people stop buying and supporting them maybe they would change their ethics around fish!

i agree, although my local fish shop is not as bad as that at all i have had my 2 little fish i rescued from pets at home for ages now.

just think about it though,pets at home are a company and the only thing that comes first is money.

i think we all should get together and sort pets at home out once and for all!!!
newspapers and everything!!!

Maybe we should just send a lot of angry emails to them regarding their appalling fish tank conditions!
I'm sure they already get a lot of those already.

Have you ever worked in an LFS? We're only human, we're bound to miss the occasional few dead fish in the tank, it is inevitable that some stock will die, algae is nothing. Any displays with white spot I would expect to be off sale.

These threads are ridiculous and the people that post them generally have no idea of how Pets at Home is structured, it's a franchised company, not all stores are the same so don't tar them with the same brush, some stores are great, some others not so saying that Pets at Home is only good for dry goods is a real sweeping statement.

Wait, while I'm posting should I jump on the band wagon too?
