so yesterday i brought my troublesome lil female dwarf gourami back to the store without a receipt to donate her to a good cause, and to my suprise the manager gives me a £5 fish voucher free! he said she was in brilliant condition and was very happy to take her from me :)

so today i go back up voucher in hand and get 2 dwarf honey gouramis they are beautiful  happy days!! :D

Kitty Kat really hopes you were not the person with only one tank and a male dwarf gourami in there.

Otherwise, happy fishkeeping, you might be lucky and have a potentially good shop there.

So in order for them to 'do good' they have to give you something for free?

James.

It was a voucher in exchange for a beautiful fish. That sounds like good business practice!

I just don't see what relevance it has on the welfare of fish, that people seem to bring up in P@H threads very very often on the forum.
For them to take it back is very kind of them, yes. But for all you know that fish could go to anyone in any situation.
Several of my LFS don't even give store credit when you take a fish back for one reason or another, doesn't mean they are bad. The manager recognising a beautiful fish is totally irrelevent. I could recognise a beautiful fish if you put them in front of me all day long.

I have nothing against P@H, I honestly don't. But I just don't get why this makes them 'good'?

i have one tank? but its 90 litres and has 6 cardinal tetras 6 corydoras 4 amano shrimp... and had 1 female and 1 male dwarf gourami. so i dont understand the nature of your comment?

sheesh didnt expect to cause this much controversy tbh lol... i only put this up because my local P@H are usually completly rubbish.
and the fish in question james was bullying my male gourami to death so i had to make the desicion to take her back (i even put a poll on here).

think i leave my thought to myself next time

Ahh well, I must of come across wrong. My bad :/

At least your male will no longer suffer, which is the main thing :good:

It is usually not recommended that more than one species of gourami be kept in one tank, and especially not more than one male. Usually, aggression between different gourami species is very high, as is aggression between males of the same species. There is potential for conflict if either of the honey gouramis is male. There is also potential for the larger and more robust male dwarf gourami to harass the smaller and more delicate female honey gouramis.

It could work, if there is enough "surface" space, more likely so if you have floating plants to brake their line of sight.

I took one of my gouramis back to P@H today as well.....He was also a bully! P@H were happy to accept him back but I didn't get a voucher! I don't mind though- I've not had much luck with P@H, so I think I'm gunna stick to garden and aquatic centres from now on.

umm i still dont understand lol.. i had 1 male dwarf gourami and 1 female dwarf gourami :p i know that you shouldnt mix and never have 2 males in a same tank, the honey gouramis have been sexed aswell i have 1 pair :good:

edit: after reading this many times over i think you are misunderstanding that the male dwarf gourami is no longer in the tank? .. he has been moved to isolation in a friends smaller tank and will no longer be a part of my community tank. He really doesnt look to good though i dont think he's going to last the week :(

Great choice, IMO Honeys are much better than Dwarfs
