I have been seeing Dracaena sanderiana aka "lucky bamboo" sold as "ribbon plant" in the aquatic plant section, both in green and variegated (striped). Though this plant can live with it's roots only, submerged in treated water, the plant itself will not live long if fully submerged under water for more than a few weeks. It actually does best planted in soil and is NOT aquatic.
The good news is that these plants usually are expensive to buy in the stores, and 99% of the time sold in green. But, being mislabeled if you buy them as "aquatic" plants they are sold really cheep and you get multiple plants in 1, and in variegated form which is rarely sold, so if you or your family have been looking for Lucky Bamboo, check your local fish store! Petco sells a bunch of them.
