well i have finally got it going, plants are in but some are not doing to great.
I've set the water temp to 28c to promote the growth. and after raising the ammonia level to 4ppm, at after 12hours the level was 2.8ppm at 36hours 0.8ppm and at 48hours 0.0ppm.
now i'm going to raise it back to 4ppm and see how long it takes to go back to 0.0ppm.
i tested the nitrite and was off the scale 110ppm+ and nitrate after 12 hours was 0.8ppm then at 36hours was 3.3ppm.
does this seem to be ok as i don't want to mess anything up, i'm checking the ammonia levels at periods of 12-36-48 hours so checking 3 times in a 48 period. should i be checking at more frequent intervals???
at this rate with some of the plants, i may just go for my first idea of major oxygen filled background and sides with a moss foreground. keeps costs down as i'm out of work.
oh just thought i'd mention that i left the tank for two days after filling and treating it before i started the cycle.
and started using 25% ammonia but am reverting back to 9.5% as my chemist is to exspensive for what i get from him, 10ml for 2euro, so i picked up 1ltr of 9.5 for 50cent (35p)
