Hi

I am still quite new to the fishkeeping game.
My tank has been established for around 6 months or so now and everything has settled down. All levels, ammonia, nitrite & nitrate all fine.
Quite recently I have noticed quite a few snails in my tank, which I dont really mind, and have found out I aquired these from some live plants I purchased from my LFS to help intitially set up my tank.
Most of them I have identified as pond snails, using posts on here and the good old internet.
There are 2-3 that i can't seem to identify that have a conical shell.

Would someone please be so kind as to help me identify these as I would like to know what they are, because they do look quite nice in my tank. I have attached a picture of one of them.

(please forgive the unclean glass in the pic, my tank is due for scheduled clean up! which this pic made me realise even more! is being done as soon as I have posted this!)

Thanks in advance
Scott

Hi Scott.

I'm sure we can identify your snails for you, if we have a pic

You need to upload it to a hosting site, like Photobucket or Flickr, and use the IMG code from there in your post

At a guess I would say Malaysian trumpet snail? They're a very common pest snail with a steeply conical shell.

Thanks

Got the pic on finally, this damn computer!

If that is what species it is, are these 2 types of snail ok in my tank or will they breed like rabbits lol

Yes, Malaysian trumpet snail.

They can become a nuisance, but only if you're overfeeding your tank.
