Howdy chaps and chapettes,

I have a 20g tank but would love to go bigger!!! I am the most unlucky person with my tanks and have had a few leaks!! 4 in the last 3 years. That is with 2 x 20G and everytime i have only lost at max 8 inches out of the tank but that doesn't stop the floor being soaked.

As you can imagine my wife is not very happy about this spate of bad luck!! I have know given up one of my 20g and would love to upgrade to a bigger deeper tank. There is a 3ft space i can fit a tank but would love to have a deeper one!!

What is the best way to persuade the wife then??

Ideas would be awsum!!

If you would like grab a 55 gallon tank and set it in place. Purchase a whole tube of aquarium grade silicone and put a second coating over every seam. Glob it full and smooth it out. Just make sure that when you fill it don't attempt to move it, even to shift it over an inch or so. That can weaken the aquarium seals.

Thanks Danno,

I might try that to ensure no more leaking!! But still got to get past my wife with the idea of getting the tank.

Thats the hard part

no way someone in the same town as me :good:

round our way pets at home in falkirk is the cheapest for tanks m8 , there doing the juwel vision 180 for £300 , its just a smidge under 3ft :D

Maybe you should offer a trade... get her something SHE really wants as a compromise. Or, let her know that you'll be getting a very large bathmat and superabsorbancy towels. :p

Hey Danno,

Have you not had a look at the guys at pineworld in camelons tanks?? They are all hand crafted and much the same price as pets at home but the units look better!!!

Hiya Amber!!

A trade!! :hyper: She already spends more on shoes in a month than i spent on both fish tanks hehe. She does alright out of it all but thanks for the idea.

Somebody out there must have a good blackmailing scheme or that

I haven't seen them. I'm located in the US and I am pretty sure that is a European model and brand. If you have All-Glass or Perfecto aquariums over the sea I would suggest those.

I would buy it, and then show up with it one day and tell her how much you spent on it and you threw away the recipt. Then she will have no choice.

Good idea kribensis!! That could be the plan of action.

Sorry Danno I picked the wrong name up on the posts, i meant that post for kevstir about the shop in Camelon which is a town beside where we live.

iv heard of it m8, my cousins father in law breads discus and gets his tanks from there, never been to see them though , where in camelon is it ??

Over on the Celica forum im on people say there mods cost no more than £50 to there wife's , maybe you should try something along that line or just buy her more shoes , a nice piece of jewellery always works with my other half :D

just be a man and go get one :) oh by the way dont ever listen to me i speak crap

lol

just tell her the reason they keep leaking is cos you had to buy cheap tanks, so to stop any more leaks you should invest (note not spend!) some money on a decent quality tank to stop it happening again!

Thats what I was thinking. "Invest" in a brand new tank, that way it shouldn't leak :D Might not be good suggesting a company that custom makes them though, as that might be an excuse for her to say "NO!" Can't argue with an off the shelf product ;)

Its either that, or re-floor your living room with plastic sheeting ;) Give her the choice :p
