Electric catfish have heaps of personality, so much so that my e cat is the only fish in the fishroom that has a pet name (Mr Hankey). Mr Hankey hand feeds in the most gentle way i have seen any fish do so just mouthing at the offered food with his lips until you let it go, and he is so desperate for attention that the moment anyone walks into the room he comes to the top of the tank and starts thrashing his tail in the water, if you ignore this for long enough he starts to make loud popping noises by sucking in air at the surface until you go up and touch the side of his tank and then he is content that you have acknowledged him. He also likes to routinely redecorate his tank by pushing sand and rocks about with his nose until they are in a position he wants them in, his tank layout changes on a almost weekly basis.

If you want a fish that is more like having a cat or a dog then get a e cat, just remember you cant stroke it.

It sound like a great fish!!! (i was about to say cat)

People who have had them say that Red Tail Cats are like puppies, and will come to the top for food and let you stroke them happily. I have personally seen an employee at a LFS stroking a RTC TSN hybrid after feeding.

The other main ones are puffers, especially Mbu. Mbu are said to occasionally start recognising their name (though I have no evidence of this) and will come for attention and wag their tails like a puppy.
