I have 3 blackfin tetras that are over 6 years old. 2 have a white substance on their eye. ( only one eye on each). The white glob is on the eye not in the eye and it is not filamented like most fungus. I have tried Maracyn and Formalin. The eye of one apears slightly better but the other has not improved at all. The fish are active and eat. Other than the eye problem they apear normal.
Any ideas what to try next?

Does it look like This??

Is it around their eye and the surrounding area? Is it look like the link above?
Possible bacterial.

No; It is one spot on the eye. I thought it might be bacteria. That is why I tried the Maracyn. Don T.

Any signs of flcking and rubbing
.Eye flukes looks like white specs on a fish eye.
Can you load a pic up.

This is bigger than a spec. It is abought 1/16" and sticks out from the eye. I don't have photos at the moment. They are very active and I'm not sure my camera will work with the low light level. Don T.

Flukes are usually inside the eye.
How long did you use the meds.
Surprised that the meds have done nothing.

I did Maracyn for two 5 day treatments. Formalin is in the 4th day. Don T.

Need to look further.
Size of tank in gallons or litres.
How many fish and which type.
water stats in ammonia, nitrite, nitrate, and ph.
Added any new fish or plants to the tank in the last two weeks.

They were in a 20g tank. They are now in a 5g hospital tank. Amonia, nitrites were 0 and nitrates were 40. Other fish in the 20g do not have the problem. I had other fish in the hospital tank that had fungus and they have been cured. (I had cori's in a discus tank and they couldn't take the temp and got fungus. once cured and temp lowered they have been fine) Don T.
