whats a perfect tank size for a smallish room as i cant realy have anything massive due to not much space i alredy have a juwel rekord 60 but want something bigger any ideas prices etc??

What kinda size is the room, I consider my lounge very small but Im sticking a 5foot tank in it  Furniture is NOT a necessity.

If you can measure the size of the space you have for a tank, then it would be easier to recommend a tank for it, also dont know where you are but try looking on ebay or classified ads for tanks as they are much cheaper second hand.

You are chatting in one of the world's leading fishforums. Most here are dreaming of having the water company drill a hole in their roof so the tap can fill the house and they won't have to clamber up a ladder with the hosepipe for the water change. Fish viewing is done from the front yard lounge chair through the living room picture window. Those with basements have to buy a lot more bags of gravel.

~~waterdrop~~ ;)

HAHA, wouldn't that be cool? A whole HOUSE full of fish!

Seriously, I would get the biggest tank you can fit and afford. You'll appreciate the room once you get into it, and also, the maintenance is much easier on big tanks :).

This link may be helpful: http://alysta.com/books/fishtank.htm. It has the dimensions of standard tank sizes, although in gallons....just do a little conversion. Also, don't forget to look at used tanks. This from a college student, used tanks are much more affordable and not too much extra work, depending on the tank.

I've only got one used one, but in the future, all the tanks I buy will be used. Such GREAT deals. I am quite addicted to Craigslist.org Do you guys have that in the UK?

Once you really get into fishkeeping, no tank is ever big enough and you just can't seem to get enough of them! :hyper: I've even got two tanks (29 gal. and 20 gal.) in my bathroom.

Used tanks are a good bargain. I've even picked a good one up on the side of the road. It seems more people give up fishkeeping because they don't know how to keep their fish alive than who have equipment failure. If the price is right, I'd buy any equipment except a heater used and save the money for nice fish.
