can anybody help please i have 2 cory paeatus and 2 julii cory all 4 happy pe4aceful fish until yesterday when i noticed with 1 of the paleatus that if a fish sat still for too long he would start to nibble at them. i 1st noticed him doing it to 1 of my pearl gourami then my pleco was stuck to the glass minding his own and he started doing it to him too. now any time the pleco sits still he does it. i have neons and white tipped rosy tetras which go after the pellet food for the cats before it sinks then go back for the flake food the other 3 are fine and ignore other fish is he not getting enough food? maybe just curious?? my concerns are is he losing out in the race to get the food and surely this must be stressful for my pleco?? any help/ opinions gratefully recieved thanks

cories are curious critters and will often check out other fish in the tank. You could try feeding them after dark or offer them some frozen food like bloodworms and brineshrimp. The other fishes will eat this too.

ok i sometimes feed the tank with a daphnia/bloodworm mix though not often ( twice in the 3 months i have had my tank) as i was advised it should not be fed very often to the type of fish i have ie tetras etc. this seems to go way beyond curiousity though, he litteraly wont leave the pleco alone its been going on for 2 days now and i really dont want my pleco getting stressed.

I would offer the frozen food every couple of days.

The cory could be a male that is feeling excited and looking for a friend to play with. Male cories will often swim over the females tickling them with their barbels trying to induce them to breed. He might have a crush on the pleco :)

so i got a frisky fish then lol!! seriously tho would this cause the pleco any undue stress??

if the cory is doing physical damage to the pleco then you will see sores appearing on it. But if it was doing damage then the pleco would take off and hide somewhere.

The pleco might be there having a cory massage :)

so basicly to just keep an eye on my pleco and as long as no physical damage is occuring ( none at the monent) not too much to be concerned about?

yep that about covers it. As long as the cory doesn't seem to be doing any physical damage the pleco should be fine. And if you have a few hiding places in the tank the pleco should move away if it is getting annoyed with the cory.
