Ok so I have a 90Gallon coldwater tank with a black moor, a red ryukin, weather loach, 9 white clouds and 5 hillstream loaches.

White clouds I know shoal but why are mine??

They have alot of space and must know that none of their tank mates are going to eat them

so yours are not shoaling correct...I'm a bit confused. The fact that they have nothing to fear may very well be the reason they are not shoaling. It is a fear response. The fact that they aren't shoaling is actually a good sign. It means they are comfortable and happy.

No. They are shoaling because they are a naturally gregarious (grouping/preferring to be with others of their own kind) type of fish.

They will shoal even if there are no other fish in the tank it is just the way they are most comfortable ;)

Cool! ok thanks. It does look better when they shoal anyway, I just wanted to know if there was anything wrong with them. I've been wanting to add more but been scared they will spread out.

Does anyone know if they will spread out if I add anymore?

In my experience, the more individuals in the shoal the more they stick together and move as a group, increasing numbers in shoaling fish tends to strengthen sociability and weeds out any disputes :)

Yer but int that semi-agresive/agresive fish like tiger barbs?

Not peaceful fish like white clouds?

I've got rid of the agressiveness towards my Angel Fish from the Tiger barbs by getting alot of them. 30 acctually

 lol 30!

Nope the shoaling numbers works for the majority of shoaling fish, for example you are always told to buy at least 6 of any tetra species, not because they'll get lonely, but so that no one fish in particular gets too picked on, even shoaling fish have hierachys and give each other a telling off sometimes ;)

I have noticed with a large number of shoaling fish that they might splitt into 2 groups. My neons did this, I did have 20.. they went into 2 groups. I now have 14 and they are still in 2 groups..

30 tiger barbs how bigs the tank

250Gallon.
They do often swim off into 2 groups but one group always follows the other.
Thats in my tropical tank any how.

Also, I know about hierarchies but what I dont understand is that the two smallest green tiger barbs seem to be the bossiest and the "leaders." Tiger barbs are just so minted!!

Its also the fact that they are in a huge 90G if they were in a 20G with 1 goldfish they probably wouldn't

Oh, I never thought of it like that. Like they are space queesy?
I see how that point could make them shoal.
What if I added more ? Acctually, I prefer them to shoal as long as they are happy.
