Hi

I have just been in to my LFS and they have pangasius catfish in which I think are really cool. However having searched on the net it says that these fish grow to around 9 foot!! The guy at my LFS said these ones only grow to 9 inches which would be ok for my tank. Is there a type of pangasius that stays small?? I have seen the paroon sharks before and these ones are different.

Sorry I can't supply a picture but they wouldn't stay still long enough for me to take one.

Thanks

Not all of them grow to 9 feet, but they're all relatively big fish.

The question got me curious, and from fishbase.org:

Pangasius elongatus 28.2 cm

Laides hexanema, formerly known as Pangasius hexanem is 16.5 cm

Pangasius kinabatanganensis 23.8cm

Pangasius lithostoma 25cm

Pangasius myanmar 24 cm

Pangasius mahakamensis 18.2 cm

These are not found in the aquarium trade to my knowledge though. And many pangasius are in the 100 cm range.
