I came across a pair of Klugei at my LFS and fell in love with them. A friend I was with (who's really into Cichlids) got all excited about these and urged me to get them. He has a hard water tank, otherwise he would have gotten them himself! I know care must be taken with mixing these with my existing GBRs, but the GBRs are favoring the right side of the tank and the Klugei are favoring the left side of the tank. These seem to be hard to find, so I had to snatch them up.

Here are a couple pics. The female is the one with the yellow stripe. I apologize the pics aren't more clear. My camera decided to die as I was snapping these and these are the best shots I can get.

I'll see if I can get some clearer shots today. I didn't want to stress the female too much by chasing her around the tank with my camera. I tried to tell her if she'd just sit still it'd be over before she knew it, but she didn't want to listen to that.

Well, she's still being quite shy. So instead of trying to take pictures, I thought I'd take a video instead! It's not the best quality because I'm using my digital camera, but you should be able to really appreciate their beauty more so than in a still photograph. Now if only the Rams weren't such hams and stayed out of the shot rather than continually butting in.

Video

Great video!

I liked it when the male moved out from under the rock, and the female wasted no time to follow him!

Really pretty fish, I love how long their fins are and the way the sway in the water!

Another of just the female. Notice how she's keeping her eye on me. ;) I hope she warms up to me eventually!

Female

You can really appreciate her colors in that one!

Don't worry, they will warm up to you for sure!

When I got my Cichlids, every time I would walk into the room they would all hide. Well, they eventually warmed up to me throughout a couple of weeks, now every time I come into the room, they all rush to the front of the tank begging for food. lol... they are cute!

Yes her colors look fantastic in that video!! The Rams warmed up to me pretty fast. Everytime I grab my camera or approach the tank there they are wanting to say hello.

Don't you just love when they do that!

I makes me wanna grab them and give them a big hug! lol.

One of Cichlids, who has passed away a couple weeks ago  , would let me pet him. He would just stay right near the top and sit there while I would pet him.

My female is putting on quite a show! She has started her little dance to entice the male. She'll bend in a u-shape and her whole body quivers. It is very interesting to watch! I re-arranged the tank a bit the other day due to some new plants I received, and she seems to be quite fond of the cave-like area I created for her under a piece of slate rock. She keeps darting under there, darting back out, dances for the male, darts back under the rock, etc. With any luck I'll have some eggs soon. :)
