Not in England no - it's a tropical fish needing much warmer temperatures. Ask your local LFS if they will take him :)

Most Maidenhead Aquatics branches will take in fish.

Good luck; these fish are a big commitment, I do wish it was made clearer to people before they are allowed to buy one

Yes they have a lot of display tanks which have a lot of room normally - I've had a few brought into my store which got too large for the customer and Maidenhead happily rehomed them into their setups. That's after my local Oceanarium said they literally had no more space for big plecs... Sad really.

ok thank you also if they do take my fish back what id the best way to transport it without causing stress to the fish

I always ask for a few fish bags - the plecs I normally transport require a bucket though but I'm sure yours is at the point it can still be bagged. Ask for them to show you then put the fish bag with fish into a dark box or non see through plastic bag.
