Pebbles For Freshwater From The Sea?

One of my mates has recently told me that you can pick up any pebble from any beach boil them for half an hour and put them in your tank. Is this really true I dont believe him personally but i want to know from a 2nd 3rd and 4th source if possible, that this is safe to do because there are monstrous pebbles at the beach near me i could use.

i have beach pebbles in my 60l, as long as you boil them first to get rid of any nasties they should be fine

No reason why not as long as u boil and clean them.all pebbles gota come from somewhere!

did you know it's illegal to remove pebbles from beaches in the U.K. but i think they'd be ok if thoroughly washed

That's very true! It sounds really petty, but I have a friend who used to work for the Enviroment agency and he told me that on some beaches near us, if every visitor took home just one pebble, that would mean the beach losing over 10 tons of rocks every year

but i think they'd be ok if thoroughly washed
