Hi

I know that Peat moss lowers the pH of aquarium water but will it also lower the Hardness? from wot i know it lowers the Hardness SLIGHTLY, and will only lower pH only if your carbonate hardness is low?

is this true?

thanks

From what I have read so far, peat moss with lower the pH but not the hardness of the water. All the minerals are still going to be present in your tank unless you get a chemical or distill your water to remove the minerals or neutralize them.

any more thoughts? I need to know as much i can about it as i am going to the pet shop tmw. Thanks
