Blanched which is somewhere between raw and cooked. It helps them sink and makes them more digestable. It's best to remove the skins too.

Don't used canned peas because they often contain sugar, salt and preservative. Stick to fresh or frozen.

I just let mine defrost, pinch them to take the skin off, and kinda squish them with my fingers as i drop them in.

What I do is put them in the bottom of a mug with a bit of water and toss them in the micowave for about 1min, then let them sit for a min or 2. Then I replace the hot water in the mug with cool water to cool them quicker, and then just squeez them out of there shells and drop them in. I do the same with cucummber.

I think it depends on the size of the fish. A raw shelled pea seems to just disappear in my larger barb tanks, a scalded one, nibbled away in a few seconds in the smaller fish tanks.

Peas should not just be considered as medicinal food stuff - most Cyprinids LOVE peas. I feed them at least once a week.

Thanks for the tip.... I'll start doing this once a week too.

Yes, peas go over very well in my barb tank. They get peas twice a week and I must say, they love it even more then the brine shrimp! They go crazy for them.

I just let mine defrost basically. Maybe warm them up a bit and then let them cool.

I have used canned ones in an emergency because it was all I had and couldn't go get any at the time. The fish came through it fine so canned will work but as SirMinion said, it isn't advisable if you have other options.

A guy I met at my LFS was saying how his fish won't even touch the canned peas, they will only eat frozen peas

This is something that I think I would like to try...I am a little concerned about any organic stuff, which wasn't eaten, rotting away. Does the filter take care of that or is it best to vacuum the gravel after?

I'm hoping that someone will come along and give an answer to the last couple of questions.....I'd love to know a little more about this!
