Pearling/co2 Question

2.228 is plenty for pearling.

I use 2 x Nutrafin cannisters linked to a glass bubble counter then to a glass non return valve then to a Rhinox 2000 glass/ceramic diffusor

My drop checker is bordering yellow (This is on Duo Deep 800 so I am 33US/29UK)

So I know I am in the ball park for aprrox 40ppm.

I change my yeast mix weekly (1 on a wednesday and 1 on a sunday) and the are linked to a gangvalve so that I can close 1 tube before removing the cannister and therefore I don't release all the pressure when I refill one

Andy

Thats a good suggestion, I have a 2 way for an old airline which has the function of shutting off 1 side so I can use that.

Are you doing a diy mix?, I have so far found the ferplast mix lasts about 4 weeks on the 30bpm, now its doing more due to the warmth I am hoping for 2 weeks (this'll cover holidays etc).

Once I have used up my stock of the ferplast ingredients I'll try the diy mix too.

Another quick Q, is the ph/dKH calculation as good as a drop checker for measuring co2???

Thanks.

KH and PH measured via home test kits which depend on a colour chart are not that accurate, have the you done the 24hr PH test (which again is not totally accurate)?

Nope, only using the eSHa test strips at the mo.

Gosh, feeling like I should have stuck with goldfish :)

By far & away the most accurate measurement is an in-tank drop checker. However it is best that the solution is changed at least every other week.

Interesting, but why is that happening is the question... clearly something is amiss there of course.

IF the solution inside the dropper is of an accurate KH (not measured, but accurately & correctly prepared) using completely pure water and good pH dropper solution then surely it MUST be the most accurate means of measuring CO2 as any other method I have seen has far too many unknowns on which to basis an accurate enough measurement.

Either the solution you are using is bad, contaminated or is out of date?

Andy
