I agree. We need to know if its nitrate or nitrite.

If its a niitrite reading immediate water change.

Your tanks looks overstocked to me.
How long has the tank been set up.
How often do you maintain the tank.

It's rare to have a nitrate reading of 0.
What your tap nitrate reading.
Do you have live plants in the tank.

yer got them the rong way round a think dont no about tap it is abit over stocked but is all so over filtered and has loads of air going in. its been set up about 5 or 6 month there are no live plants

Test your tap nitrate reading.

Do a water change for now.

What do the fish gills look like, do they look pale with excess slime or red and inflamed.

Gasping at surface of tank can be bad water quality, parasites, toxins, ph shock, bacterial, fungal, overdose of meds.

there not gasping at the surfacei have never used meds i think my test might be out of date or somthing but a dont think ma ph is what it normaly is doin a about a 20% water change now i have killed some fish off befor with weed killer but that was not my fault thanks for the help a hope this all gos well what can u do if it is parasites???

Immediate water change and increase aeration.
Take a sample of your water to the lfs and ask them to write the readings down for you.

Are the fish showing any of these signs.
Flicking and rubbing.
Excess mucas on body or gills of fish.
Greyish white film, or bluish film on fish.
Any tiny white spots on the fish.
Do the gills look pale with excess mucas, or red and inflamed.
Do the fish have any yellow spots, or a gold dusting on them.
Do any fish have tiny red pin pricks marks on them, or red sores.
Any signs of red streaking on fins or body of the fish.
Do any fish lay on the substrate or rest on plants.
Do any fish swim in a jerky movement.
Can the fish maintain there balance in the water.
Do any fish look sklnny or bloated.

When you preform a water change do you preform a gravel vac aswell.

yer a do vac the gravel well will try and convince ma girlfriend to give me a lift to ma LFS. r right just sat down and had a good long look at the fish ma rainbow fish that a missed out on ma stocking is flickin a kicked about like he is havein little fits now and that what could this be????

It could be bad water quality to parasites.

German blue rams should only be kept in pairs, male and female.

Depends which parasite it is.

It could be something like flukes.
But if your test kit out of date it could be due to bad water quality.
That's why we need to look at full water stats.
Bad water quality can cause the same symtoms as parasites.
