PH 6.6-6.8
NitrIte 0ppm
Ammonia 0ppm
NitrAte 20-30ppm

The nice lady at the fish store advised me to use PimaFix for fungus
because I'm now almost err 90% sure thats what it is.
So I've taken some photos hopfully they help..

It sounds like you have a Columnaries infection going on in your tank. This is a bacterial infection, however it commonly looks like fungus.

To treat this disease, LOWER the temperature in your tank, as this bacteria thrives at high temperatures. You will need an actual antibiotic medicine for your fish, not just primafix. Maracyn and Maracyn 2 OR Kanacyn are good meds for this. If your fish can tollerate salt, go ahead and add that (1 tbsp/5 gal)

Here is a link with some more info if you want. http://www.flippersandfins.net/flexibacter.htm

Very interesting link, thanks!

Although my fish doesn't really look like that.. but I'd hate for it to be Flexibacter and me have the water temp up and have no aertion.
I've already put in the first dose of pimafix should I just not continue that and go and get some Maracyn and Maracyn 2 OR Kanacyn tomorow and start treating with that insead?
I can lower the temp tonight, but I would have to get an airstone for my pump cause all I have is a curtain.

sheesh I really would hate for this one to croak.

:(

The majority of the time, when a fish has "fungus" it is Columnaries. True fungus can only grow on an open wound, however, that isn't always fungus, as columnaries can also cause ulcers.

Im not sure if you got this or not, but you want to LOWER the temperature to slow the growth of teh bacteria.

You definately want to use an antibiotic on this, as it is vicious and can be very lethal. I've lost two bettas to this and possibly one other fish since December. If you are worried about aration, you can also lower your water about an inch, which would help the filter stir the water up a little more as it re-enters the tank.

Columnaris can wipe a tank out in hours, best to use an antibiotics, the mark with the red circling sounds like columnaris too, what med are you using.

If the fish are issolated tetracycline would be better.

Maracyn-Two:
Broad-spectrum, nontoxic antibiotic tablets for infections of fin and tail rot, popeye, gill disease, dropsy, septicemia, secondary and internal infections. Effective even when fish won't eat in freshwater aquariums. No water changes, pH, or temperature adjustments necessary if readings are in ideal range.

1 Gallon Dosage:
For one round, dissolve one tablet into 10 teaspoons of water. For first day, add 2 teaspoons of concentrated mixture per 1 gallon of water. For days 2-5, add 1 teaspoon of the concentrate per 1 gallon of water.

Manufacturer: Mardel Labs

Okay last question,
I put one dose of pimafix in the tank last night can I just start Maracyn-two today? Do I have to do a water change or anything??

Do a water change and run some carbon for a few hours to remove the med, good luck, about a 30% water change.
