Hi there, I am looking at getting a gourami for my new 125 litre tank.
At present I do have a betta and have been told that beta and gourami's are a no go, however my beta is showing lots of aggression towards all of my fish and so he may be getting moved into his own little tank eventually.
I have lots of small tetra type fish (neons, platinums, cherry barbs, harlequin rasboras and kerri tetras) would i be able to get a Pearl Gourami?
I don't know how they are in terms of aggression, or wether they would grow big enough to eventually eat my smaller fish? I don't know a lot about gouramis!!
If i can't get away with a couple of pearls, then maybe dwarves?
Thanks, Amy.

I am a big fan of the Pearl Gourami, but I'm not sure if it would be wise to put them in with Neons. Pearls are usually not very aggressive, but there is a big difference in size there, which can sometimes bring out the worst in a fish. Full grown Pearl Gourami is 4+ inches, Neon only 1.25 inches.

You could not go wrong with a m/f pair of Dwarf Gourami in there. Better size matchup.

I saw some pearls today in my LFS and asked about their temperament etc, and the girl said that 2 of them should be fine with my beta?
I find this hard to believe due to what I have read on here, what do you think?

I'd say you have less than a 50/50 chance of that working out. There is a thread on here right now about a dominant Pearl Gourami, and you said yourself that the Betta is causing problems.
