Thought I would just share this and any advice, please pass on.
I have a long term pair of pearl gouramis and recently added a group of 4 juvenile opalines to the same tank (50gal). One of the opalines, to be crude, is a bullying ba$14rd! Frequently harassing the other opalines I noticed the other night it was picking on the larger pearls too. Tonight however, ive come home to discover a large part of one of the pearls tail missing
It has made me rather sad, will need to QT the pearl to give him a bit r+r. Thinking a bit of salt + melafix to the water as well will be in order. Anyway, word of the learned: just because they are 4 times bigger, doesnt make them any safer! And normally compatible tank mates (used to have an older pair of opalines before the pearls got added that died last year from old age) dont always work out.
