hi there, i have just noticed as i was sitting down at my computer near my tank that a weird clicking noise was coming form my tank, and the noise varies and is not constant. i have not noticed this noise before i had put my pearl gourami in my tank, could this noise be coming from my gourami? are they known for making such a noise? i will add that none of my fish were being fed too.

cheers

Have you got any Loaches in your tank???.....There is a specific one with a Y shaped pattern on its body that I've seen doing this in one of my tanks.

you know that is weird because im sure iv read gouramis making a clicking sound sometimes, and i heard a lot of clicking in the night, maybe it was my honeys? i only have neons with them so its not them lol i cant see them clicking lol

it might be, dunno? :dunno: im sure its nothing to worry about anyway, touch wood x :)

I just got a book on gouramis from my local library. It talked about a species called the "croaking gourami" and it reminded me of your post which i read a few days ago. According to the author, the labryinth organ allows the clicking gourami to make the clicking noise, so presumably, other gouramis could make the noise as well? So far i haven't heard anything from my honeys, but i'll be listening!

What are the other fishes that live with your gouramis? Believe me I once had a tank that that contains 4 bala sharks and 8 clown loaches both of these fishes can make a clicking noise, when I try to feed them those loaches make a noise that drive's me nuts. However I'm not sure if pearl gouramis can make such noises, but they may have somthing to do about it.
