Pearl Danio With Red Worms

Written by rust who used the same med.
am trying to see if anyone has used Levamisole to treat Camellanus and if so what dosage to use. There is a document on the internet that suggests: "Add 1.5 milliliter per 7.5 liter of 7.5% Levacide (levamisole hydrochloride) to each tanks to be treated".

I would go in with that dose then as the vet and rust have said the same thing.
Good luck.

Forgot read a few post saying that the fish go off there food for a few days after they have used levaimsole, so don't panic.

thanks. i read that too so i fed them before i put it in. everyone seems fine so far. little worms have appeared in the water and danny the danio has a big red one coming out of his side. he seems to be passing poo through his side. as if it were normal to do that. he isnt off his food at all but passes waste through is stomach, kind of like a colostomy in humans. weird.

Sounds like the worms have buried through the fish sides.
Once fish are infested with worms they do alot of damage to the insides of the fish.
The fish that are really damaged by the worms might not make it bless them.

'danny' looks much better today. he passed a large red worm yesterday and there were loads of tiny worms floating in the water. just fed everyone and they are great. everyones eating and swimming but a couple of rummy nose have lost their red noses and 2 cardinals are showing a deep navy blue stripe which is unusual for them.

I treated at 1.5ml per 7.5L rate. My Rummy Noses also lost red colour initially, but it is now back... Have you cleaned up the dead worms/waste yet?? + 40-50% change.

I have just hopefully ended the treatment but have plenty left over for back-up. (Smallest option was 500ml bottle> used 70ml so far)

Hope they pull through - didn't know they came out of side aswell! :good:

the most unhappy fish is the pleco. keeps getting irritated and flapping around the tank like a nutter. they have all come out of hiding. im planning the w/c for about 3pm. ill know if they are ok if they are trying to bite the freckles off my arm when im vacuuming!

thats the rate i used also and saw worms within an hour with no loss of appetite.

i just wanted to update wilder and rossyt on the pearl danio who was passing poop from his side. he seems to have made a miraculous recovery as when ifed them today he pooped from the only place poop should come from and has remained active throughout. i think he deserves a medal

Pleased to hear (read) that!

Hopefully more people will read how good the 'Levamisole Hydrochloride' is and if the sign of worms are spotted they can eradicate them early. >Praise to the power of 'Levacide'! :good:

Glad the fish are back on the mend especially the fish that was pooping from its side.
I would phone the vet and thank him as not all vets will perscribe it for fish.

the vet rang me yesterday to ask how they were. i thanked her cos she went to a lot of trouble because she rang the labs that make levacide to find out what they knew. she was fabulous and so much help. she did say, i dont know much about fish but if you ever need anything just come to us and we will try and find out. brilliant.

levacide is well recommended as is my vet! great effort made by her and she has more than restored my faith!

as have you two, thanks a lot for all your help and pointing me in the right direction :flowers: :D

Thats good news then.
Glad there all on the mend.
The fish with the worms that came out of its side you might need to use a bacterial med once the worms have gone, just to be one the safe side.

Need to keep the water in tip top condition by water changes.
Bacteria can enter the fish through cuts and wounds.
