For a few days on of my Pearl Danios hasn't been looking that great, so I've set up a hospital tank with an airstone in it. (It has daily water changes as I don't have a spare filter.)

He's got an open red looking sore on his side, gone completely white, the scales around his sore looks agitated and he's not feeding that well. Spends alot of time at the bottom of the tank and swims occasionally.

I'm treating him with Melafix and I'll put Pimafix in there aswell if I can find some. Is there anything else I can do? Or do I just hope for the best?

What are the symptoms of dropsy? I have a sneaky feeling this is where it's going... :-(
He spends most of the time at the bottom of the tank, doesn't move much, heavy breathing, from above his scales stick out, and he doesn't have much colour to him.

Would salt help in this situation?

Salt baths may help remove some of the fluid built up in the fish's body. But remember, dropsey is a symptom, not a disease. It has been a really long time since I have had to do a salt bath, so I am not sure on the concentration.
