I decided to take some pictures of my peacock gudgeon pair. I have them in a 14.5 gallon tank alone and for the past 3 weeks they have been spawning non-stop. Their tank I admit doesn't look as good as I'd like it to be but because they are spawning I don't want to mess around in their. Also they are known jumpers so I don't often take the hood off. Once they are done spawning I plan on lowering the water level and spending some time re-arranging the plants and wood but at the moment I say it's my very "Natural tank". :D

Here's a tank shot:
I've had to put another light over the opening (not completely open..I've cut out some plastic to fit over the opening so they can't jump out) because something is messed up electrically I think inside the hood. Somedays the light will come on and other times I can't get it to come on for days :S

This is the male:
He's protecting their 3rd spawn in less than a month!

These are one week old fry and two week old fry I have in another smaller tank. Inside the main tank there are still 12-15 one week old fry that the parents don't even bother so I've decided to leave them in their and see how they do. They arn't the greatest pics but it's very hard to get good shots of fry when they are this young and this transparent.

Awww  I'm hoping I ended up with a pair, I haven't got round to sexing them yet... Or even giving them their own species tank :X ... Nice tank layout :)

I was surprised but they were able to take live BBS from day one. I thought their mouths would be too small but they weren't. There were though I think other little living organisms in the smaller tank because I moved over a piece of wood from the main tank as well as some java moss.

In the little tank I have around 30 now and in the main tank I have counted between 12-15 but there could be more. Who knows how many there will be from the 3rd spawn. The male has done an excellent job taking care of the eggs. I hatched out the first spawn but I was only able to hatch out about 10-12.

In the small tank where the 30 fry are I just have a heater in the tank with java moss, bits of wood and snails. The snails keep everything balanced!! I usually do daily or everyother day small water changes.

Amazing! I love their little "trout" faces.

Will your LFS give you credit when they are older?

I'm sooooo jealous , and very angry .....................................

that you don't live closer to me :p

nice work ;) and the tank looks just fine .......what size is the pvc ?

cometcattle, Yeah the guy I bought the parents from will take the fry from me. We haven't talked about a price but I know he'll give me something for them...discounts or store credit. He's going to be taking some of my Betta Smaragdina juvies from me too. He's very much into breeding!

Lucky...if you lived closer I'd give you some to raise!!! I seriously was never counting on getting even one living fry let alone this many. I just have them at the moment in a very small kritter keeper but I bet in a month or so I'm going to have to set up an empty 10 gallon I have for them.

It's pretty exciting actually :D

Lucky, the pvc pipes..I'm not exactly sure of the size :*) I have three different sizes in there. Their first spawn was under a piece of wood, their second spawn was in the smallest pvc pipe and now their third spawn is inside of the medium sized pvc pipe.

btw...I love their trout faces too

The 3rd spawn hatched yesterday! There are so many now...I'd say at least 60+. Since the parents arn't trying to eat them I decided to put the 30 or so I had in the smaller tank back in the main tank. They are growing real well. There is quite a big difference in size now between the newly hatched ones and the 2 week old ones.

The male is trying to "woo" the female again....how many times is it normal for them to spawn?? If they spawn again it'll be their 4th spawn in a month and I know I shouldn't be complaining but gosh that's gonna be one heck of a lot of fry

Nice tank!
AHA!- What are those long plants you have i bought some and completely forgot the name!
