I have 3 peacock bass and another 2 being grown on for me by another member before i introduce them to my tanks as they need to be over 6 inches to avoid being eaten.

As said they are fairly peacefull to anything that cannot be seen as food, but they will attempt to eat anything up to around 2/3rds their own size, bright silver coloured fish also seem to bring out their predatory nature and even larger fish will occasionally be snapped at if the silver catches their eye.

In captivity they only reach around 20 inches and around 5 lbs in weight, which also seems to be an average size for wild fish though much larger specimins do get caught every now and again.

I can garentee they will get bigger than 20inches unless kept in a small tank tank and get stunted Lol. Espically (sp) in a 10 x 8 Lol.

Show me some pictures of peacock bass over 20" (with the exception of Cichla temmensis which do grow larger but are quite rare in the hobby) in someones personal aquariums and you might have something to go on. I frequent a lot of forums and talk with a lot of P bass owners and not one has owned nor owns a P bass over that size even in large tropical ponds.

The 3 most common aquarium species here in order of availabilty only have a wild TL of bewteen 64 and 74 cm and unless you have a tank of public aquarium proportions reaching that size in captivity is highly unlikely.

the parents are fully grown and they are only 18 inch so a 10ft by 8 ft wont stunt the fish at all ,, infact his parents where in a smaller tank than that and they are stunners ,,,
