jhi, apart from keyholes are there any other peaceful cichlids, as i still want a community tank, but do not want cichlids ripping everything up fish and plants included! its a 240l tank something that wont get too big and will not scoff smaller shoaling fish like cardianls and rummy noses.

bump apart from keyholes, german + bolivian rams

Most Cichlids have some aggressive tendancies.

If you are thinking of Malawi then I would stay clear. They need a species only tank as even when young they can be bit aggressive.

I cannot think of any other than the ones you have mentioned other than Kribensis but they are can still be a handful.

Maybe someone will come along to help you.

cockatoo dwarfs and also argassiz dwarf cichlids are quite peacfull but may get agressive if breeding...just allow plenty of space and plenty of hiding spots for them....

as already mentioned kribs are lovely too, however they can get agressive....i have bolivian rams with harliquins and also neons at one point and they were fine :good:

If there are no caves in the tank I would recomend a pair of kribensis, they're lovely! a cave makes them territorial but not 'kill everything' territorial! my pair dont harm anything! mystil is right there are no 100% peaceful cihlids. Another option is nannacara anomala - they're bright cheap and colourful. keep one male to several females so he can share his attention among them.

cool thanks, im not going for a cichlid tank it will be community but i like the shape of the fish!! however i have hard water where i live (surrey) so i think rams are out of the question although my lfs has german blue rams and orange or yellow (forgot which the mane was)!
