I have a 20 gal. tank the only fish I have in it is one Arawana approx. 4", the tank water continues to exhibit a pea green color in the water so much so that you cannot see an inch or two into the water, I have changed the water (color comes back within a few days), I have blocked all incoming light for a week with little or no change, seems to be light as color on botom of tank say bottom inch or two can see more deeply say three inches or so, I have added a cloudy fix drop to the tank but no luck still continues to have problem......Please help me or send me to the right forum! :good:

Do a search in the forum for "Green Water". I have personally experienced water so green you could not see past the front glass. I think the fish loved it... For me it was a result of a bright room (no direct sun) but about 3 watts per gallon on lighting and lots of plant ferterlizer. Wow did that stuff get thick fast. My solution was to use a Diatom filter and remove the algae in about an hour on a 90 gallon tank. Some people opt for a UV sterilizer. Anyway, lots of info bout green water here.

How long have you had the tank set up? Is the tank in direct sunlight at any time during the day? Green water is pretty common in new tanks and also any tank that gets direct sunlight. it really isn't bad for the fish. It just looks like crap. You can clear it with a UV Sterilizer or just let it run it's course.

The tank has been up for a couple of months, not in direct sunlight, it looks terrible, I have never and I mean never have had this problem in any tank before!

As I mentioned, the UV Sterilizer will work if you don't mind spending a little money. Here is a thread I did a couple years ago with photos of my 29 gallon as I used one on it The same unit worked even better on my 75 gallon but I didn't take any photos of it.
