I am thinking of getting some dwarf puffers. Has anyone got any tips or anything I should know about. They will have a species only tank. I have currently got either a 10 gallon or 5 gallon available. They both are currently growing out fry so when they are grown up I am thinking of some pea puffers.

Thanks for the reply. So if I planted so that there is always no visual sight. is it ok to feed the snails and bloodworms? i will put three in then. I am thinking of getting them from trop co? I like the look of carpets is that ok?

Oh wow pea puffers are cool , I’d want some myself but I’d want to see them puff up all the time which is bad lol it’s like telling a child not to mess with something

Yes, as long as the blood worms are not freeze dried. “Fresh is best”.

Not necessarily that densely planted - do make some spots that are more dense than others, but still leave swimming room. They also like caves, so try to find some that would be suitable for them.

No problem! Would love to see photos when/if you get them. :)

Won’t be for a while maybe a month of two just so I can afford to give them the best set up and I currently have fry growing out in that tank

Do you think I could have two separate 5 gallons and have one in each so I could have like two cool aquascapes/planted tanks but still enjoy the pea puffer

I have two pea puffers. Nicodemus lives in a 3 gal. tank with two cherry shrimp. Miss Ethel has a 6 gal. and she has a nerite snail and one amano shrimp for roommates. They are awesome little fish with too much personality for their little bodies.

This is a picture of the 3 gal. tank with Nicodemus on the right side of it:

This is the 6 gal. with Miss Ethel in the lower center area. Ra the mystery snail moved to another tank:

Neither of them like frozen food so they only eat snails. ;) They are picky eaters, but I know some people here have succeeded in feeding them frozen bloodworms.

I'd say go for the two tanks!:fish:
