why are the blood parrot fishes eggs infertile, with this being the case where the hell do they come from?
ok i got no knowledge of these fish but just out of curiosty was wondering the answer to this stupid question of mine

Probably something to do with the fact they are hybrids..

There are apparently fertile males.. but they are very rare.

So suppliers possibly have fertile males, or they breed whatever 2 species make a parrot cichlid..

I really don't know for sure.

It's not the eggs that are infertile, the females are fine - it's the males that are infertile. No-one knows for sure why but the main consensus is that they are chemically neutered, or that the fact they're hybrids causes them to be infertile.

Mine still spawn, do the deed, it's just their sperm isnt fertile so the eggs dont fertilise.
