can any one help, got two parrot fish they seem to be arranging gravel around like nesting cant see any eggs is this normal behavior before egg laying???

i could be wrong but i thought parrot fish are hybrids and cant breed, i think they will try to breed but the eggs will be unfertilized and wont hatch.

Some parrots are, apparently, fertile; there have been a few reports of them breeding, although the fry are often green/brown rather than red or orange.

It does sound like spawning behaviour although they doesn't mean they'll successfully breed, of course!

Once fish have paired up, they'll usually carry on spawning at regular intervals.

Actually they are capable of breeding! Like flowerhorns are! Trust me that is what the breeder tells you so you couldnt breed your own. We have many parrot and flowerhorn breeders in my area!
